How to Remove Dispute Comments

Via a Rapid Re-Score (Fee Required)

  • To remove a dispute remark, we need only a letter from the borrower. It must be typed, signed, dated, reference the acct name(s) and number(s) as they appear on the report and just says "I am not disputing these accounts". We then take this letter, send it to the credit bureaus via the re-score process, the credit bureaus will remove ths dispute comment within 48-72 hours, at which time a new credit report will need to be ordered.

Via AnnualCreditReport.com (Free Option)

  • The consumer may remove/add a dispute for free by visiting www.annualcreditreport.com. This website is sponsored by the 3 credit bureaus and offers consumers FREE access to their credit report (not score). The consumer will choose the tradeline that has an active dispute comment and can ask to get it removed. This process usually takes about 72 hours to get done. Once the consumer gets confirmation the dispute removal is complete, you can then proceeed with pulling a new credit report.

Dispute Comments FAQ

  • In order for the dispute comment to NOT be re-reported on the consumers credit file during the loan process, it is important to note that the consumer will also need to cancel the dispute with the creditor directly, to ensure the creditor does not re-report the dispute comment, during the loan process.
  • Lenders are required to get dispute comments removed for most loan types, as a disputed tradline is not factored into the consumers credit score(s). Thus the consumers credit score MAY go DOWN after a dispute comment is removed, if the account is delinq or a negative reporting account.
  • Removing disputed tradelines MUST be done at the credit bureau level via the re-score or free option mentioned above. Updating tradlines as a supplement, will not allow the credit report to be ran through the AUS, showing the dispute comments are no longer reporting.
